Vietnam is a country of captivating contrasts, where vibrant cities meet serene landscapes and ancient traditions blend seamlessly with modern life. Our journey through this beautiful country started in the enchanting town of Hoi An and concluded in the bustling city of Hanoi, with several unforgettable stops along the way. Here's a detailed account of our adventure, perfect for anyone planning their next vacation to Vietnam.

Hoi An: The City of Lanterns
Our adventure began with four nights in Hoi An, a town renowned for its picturesque lantern-lit streets and bustling nightlife. As dusk fell, the city transformed into a mesmerising display of lights, with lanterns illuminating the night markets filled with hundreds of people. Hoi An's charm truly comes alive after dark, offering a vibrant mix of culture, cuisine, and shopping.
One of the highlights of our stay was a full-day excursion that included a unique experience with coconut baskets. We floated along the water, witnessing the traditional lifestyle of the locals. Our journey then took us to the stunning Marble Mountain, an adventurous exploration of caves rich with history. Our private driver, Hoa, introduced us to a delightful local restaurant where we savoured an authentic Banh Mi.
Later, we ascended to Ba Na Hills, an awe-inspiring location perched on a cliffside. The cable car ride to the top offered breathtaking scenery, though we were surprised to find a theme park at the summit. As we're not particularly fond of theme parks, we didn’t spend much time there.
The rest of our stay in Hoi An was spent indulging in cooking classes, sipping cocktails, and relaxing by the pool at the luxurious Bel Marina Resort. It was the perfect blend of relaxation and cultural immersion.

Hanoi: A Blend of History and Modernity
After an hour-long flight, we arrived in Hanoi, where we spent one night at The Lapis Hotel in the charming French Quarter. Our dinner at a high-end restaurant and whiskey bar was a memorable experience, despite the hefty $500 bill for four people—it was worth every cent.
The next morning, we embarked on a three-hour drive to Halong Bay, boarding the M’Gloria Boat for a two-day cruise. Halong Bay's stunning cliffs and magnificent views were a feast for the eyes. We enjoyed kayaking, mingling with the locals, savouring delicious food, and soaking in all the boat had to offer.

Ninh Binh: Halong Bay on Land
Our journey continued with a three-hour drive to Ninh Binh, often referred to as "Halong Bay on Land." This region lived up to its name with its breathtaking landscapes. We had a brief but delightful stay, visiting friends and enjoying a private chef-prepared five-course dinner featuring local Vietnamese delicacies. Our accommodation at Green Mountain Lodge was exceptional, offering incredible value at just $80 per night for our family of four.ed fresh seafood at a beachfront restaurant, soaking in the tranquil atmosphere.
